Hardness
ASTM 1037 : strand woven bamboo displays a hardness of 16.1 KN. Janka ball test: 3625 psi
Anti-Bending Intensity
114.7 kg /cm3
Density
1.15 -1.30g /cm3 or 16.4kg/m2
Smoke Density
Testing to ASTM E622 where passing is 450 or less, bamboo flooring passes with a 270 rating in flaming mode, and a 330 rating in non-flaming mode.
Compressive Strength
Testing to ASTM 3501-86 A, produced:
Compression parallel to grain: 7600 PSI
Compression perpendicular to grain: 2624 PSI.
Abrasion Resistance
ASTM D 4060, CS-17 Taber abrasive wheels: Final wear-through: Minimum 12,600 cycles.
Formaldehyde Emission
0.1mg/L.
Our bamboo flooring off-gasses 5 times less than allowed under the most stringent European (E0) standards which are 0.5 mg /L.
Most boards only pass to an E1 standard which is <1.5 mg/L.
Slip Resistance
AS/NZS 4586:2004
Using a Wet Pendulum Slider gives a BPN of 31 and Rating Class Y
EN1839 Friction Coefficient 0.43 to 0.44.
Modulus of Elasticity
940,000 PSI
Dimensional Stability
Bamboo flooring produced a dimensional change coefficient of .00144, making it 2.5 times more stable than commonly used wood flooring.
Flammability
Using ISO 9239 For Critical Radiant Flux we have the following results:
Mean Distance of Flame Travel: 337.5mm
Average Critical Radiant Flux: 7.0kw/m2
Average Smoke Obscuration: 45% Min
