Can bamboo flooring be stained?
Yes. A professional finisher can stain bamboo that has not already had a urethane applied at the factory. If you want to stain the bamboo, order our unfinished planks. The evenness of the stain will compare to that of oak and the sanding process is the same.

Should you ever use wax?
Wax is generally used only in commercial installations to protect the floor against unusually heavy traffic. Waxing requires a constant maintenance program, which is a common practice in commercial situations, but is not favoured by homeowners. A maintenance program for recoating your floor with a floor sealer can be obtained from your flooring installer.

What about the finish?
Ultimate Flooring's Bamboo Flooring has 6 coats of a Treffert Ceramic Glase finish which is manufactured in either gloss or matt.

What kind of maintenance is necessary?
Maintenance is simple. Vacuum or damp mop as needed to remove loose dirt or grit before it can scratch the surface. Generally a bit of methylated Spirits in a bucket of warm water with a well wrung out mop does the job. For hard to remove spots, use ammonia and water or a citrus based solvent or a urethane floor cleaner. See our maintenance page.

How stable is it?
Ultimate Flooring's Bamboo is dimensionally stable and is 2.5 times more stable than commonly used wood flooring.

How is bamboo flooring installed?
Bamboo flooring is installed like all solid hardwood floors. Additionally it can be glued down direct to concrete using an appropriate adhesive and a 2 part epoxy moisture barrier.

Are accessories available?
Yes. We stock 1.8 metre long reducers and stair nosing. All accessories are available pre-finished.
